You’ve
done it. You’ve gotten married and now it’s
time to party! So what kind of party are you
going to throw? These days, almost
everything goes when it comes to the event
after the ceremony but whatever kind of
reception you decide to have it should
always be planned with elegance and class in
mind. That doesn’t mean you have to spend
an excessive amount of money, lavishing your
guests with five course meals and gifts. You
can plan a classy reception that is less
formal but still elegant.
Cocktail Hour:
At many weddings this is the first
hour of the reception. Usually you’ll
see hors d'oeuvres, either passed
butler-style, at buffet stations,
or a combination of both. It is
often held in a different room
than the reception if you are
having your wedding at a
hall/restaurant that caters to
weddings.
Afternoon Wedding Reception:
If you are getting married in the
morning or early afternoon you can
have a reception that is less
formal than an evening reception.
Often because of the time of day,
it is appropriate to serve light
food at the reception. You could
have a buffet rather than a
sit-down meal, or just serving
stations of heavy scrumptious hors
d'oeuvres.
